Accessibility Statement

MarshMinder is committed to making its website usable for as many people as possible. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We are not claiming full conformance today: an internal review in August 2026 found the gaps listed below, and we would rather name them than overstate where we are.

Measures we take

• Semantic HTML with a logical heading structure and landmarks.
• A “skip to content” link for keyboard users.
• Labeled form controls and clearly labeled filters.
• Full keyboard operability with a visible focus indicator.
• Text alternatives for meaningful images.
• Color choices intended to meet AA contrast, in light and dark mode.
• Support for the “reduced motion” system setting.

Known limitations

These are the barriers we currently know about, from a review in August 2026. We are working on them.

• The interactive maps.They use a third-party mapping library, and the shapes carrying data — the migration heatmap’s push-pressure cells and bird counts — cannot be reached with a keyboard and are not announced by a screen reader. The Reserve and Guides pages present area information as accessible, structured lists, and Today’s Board ranks areas by score as a list. Neither yet carries the survey counts shown on the heatmap.
• Some secondary text falls below AA contrast. Captions, timestamps and other supporting labels use a muted tone that does not reach the 4.5:1 ratio required at small sizes. Headings, body copy and controls do meet it.
• Markers on the Gaining/Losing map layer can receive keyboard focus without announcing what they are.
